With such diversity in the many makes, models, countries of origin and year of manufacture of Vintage Automobiles, it is evident that old car fanciers are equally as diverse in their likes and dislikes when it comes to the collecting and use of such vehicles. With that in mind, a group of fellow enthusiasts created the Vintage Automobile Touring Society; dedicated to the sharing of information of any and all vintage automobiles and the activities commonly associated with such collector cars.

On January 26, 2002 a group of individuals established the fundamental principals of the society, which are spelled out in the society's Mission Statement.

To accomplish these objectives, it was determined that the use of a website and e-mail would best serve all interested parties, thereby eliminating the need for a governing body, formal memberships and subsequent dues.

Through the use of the World Wide Web, any and all individuals can access the information that is being provided. In addition, an individual can subscribe free of charge to the society's e-mail Bulletin Board to receive notice of activities and events hosted by the Vintage Automobile Touring Society, most of which will occur in Northern California.
